Lots to do this morning, but I really couldn't help but take note of Al Smith's terrific reply to the idea of transforming our school libraries into 'learning commons'. Ever the wordsmith (no pun intended!), Al really gets to the heart of the matter--call your library whatever you want--but above all else--maintain the service and … Continue reading Part Two On Hold

Professional Autonomy is Killing Teachers…?
OK. Here's another resolution that I guess is a resolution. I resolved to continue to blog once or twice a week (actually it was more like 2 or 3 times) but nevertheless I soldier on. I resolve to work towards developing my Netvibes page and my blog. While at times I get a little nervous … Continue reading Professional Autonomy is Killing Teachers…?
Resolution?
To be straight up front, I don't believe in New Year's resolutions. I have never really made one or at least made one that was reasonable, obtainable and really relevant to my personal and professional lives.But... I was watching Dave Cormier go off about the semantics of definitions--specifically the use (overuse? misuse?) of the word … Continue reading Resolution?

A pretty quick and dirty read. Worth the twenty minutes.
What to read next?
Let the bookseer decide what to read next. Just punch in the author and title of a personal favourite and presto--after searching Amazon, Google, and Librarything--some suggestions. Admittedly, this hasn't worked for all titles I have entered...a work in progress, perhaps.

TO EAT OR NOT TO EAT…IN THE LIBRARY (REDUX)
Thanks to all the staff and colleagues that wrote and offered words of wisdom. I think that the problem with offering a 'Leave No Trace' zone is the same problem with 'Leave No Trace' while in a natural setting. Not everyone will adhere to this. Some will be looking for a place just to eat … Continue reading TO EAT OR NOT TO EAT…IN THE LIBRARY (REDUX)
